The Public Petitions Committee, led by Vice-Chair Hon. Janet Jepkemboi Sitienei (MP, Turbo) conducted an extensive site visit of the Chemosit and Kipsonoi small hydropower projects.
The delegation included Hon. Peter Irungu Kihungi, MP Kangema Constituency, Hon. Beatrice Elachi MP, Dagoretti North and Hon. Joshua Chepyegon Kandie MP, Baringo Central.
The committee was hosted by the KTDA leadership team, led by Ag. CEO Eng. Francis Miano, General Manager Operations Kanja Thuku, and John Mwenda, the Ag. General Manager of the KTDA Power Company (KTPC).
The committee received a comprehensive progress report on the facility, with the Chemosit hydro expected to be completed by September 2026. The committee was also briefed on the ongoing land acquisition challenges that have impacted the Kipsonoi project’s timeline.
KTDA remains dedicated to investing in renewable energy to reduce the cost of production for our factories and enhance returns for our smallholder tea farmers.
