It will also be handing over books to Gitugi Tea Factory which has a library within the Factory premises.

Earlier this year, the foundation launched, The ‘books for the community’ project. This project involves providing library structures to communities in tea catchment areas as well as stocking the libraries with books. It has so far managed to receive over 6,000 books through book donations.

The Uruku library will promote the literacy and pure enjoyment of reading. It will benefit school going students as it currently stands as the only resource center for information.

The library sits at the heart of Uruku community. It will provide opportunities for lifelong learning, help children and young people develop imagination and creativity, and give adults the opportunity to learn about different information from; cultural heritage, the arts, science and technology.

Previously teacher had to go all the way to Meru Town to borrow books on behalf of the students at a fee. The library will be beneficial to the entire community as information has been brought closer to the users.

15 institutions of learning will benefit from the library some of which include: Uruku Girls Secondary, Uruku Academy, Wesley Primary School, Green Yellow Academy, Gakondi Day Secondary School, Kogo Day Primary School among others.
