Chai Logistics Centre-Nairobi (CLCN) is one of the business divisions of Chai Trading Company Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of KTDA Holdings Limited.

CLCN is a reliable and licensed Transit Shed/CFS for the handling of containerized cargo, loose cargo & motor vehicles for further clearance.  It’s the closest CFS to Inland Container Depot – Nairobi (ICDN).

CLCN is strategically located less than 100meters from ICDN on old Mombasa Road and we are connected to the Meter Gauge Railway (MGR) for faster and efficient transfer of cargo from/to ICDN.

The terminal houses the relevant government agencies; Kenya Revenue Authority, Kenya Bureau of Standards and other agencies to facilitate for a smooth, quick and efficient clearance of goods.

We also offer cargo handling, verification/inspection, stuffing & sealing, empty container handling services for imports and exports in Nairobi.

CLCN has a capacity to handle more than 2000TEUS (Twenty Equivalent Units) containers with a warehouse space of 38000 square feet.

Our Services

We facilitate daily speedy transfer of cargo from port of Mombasa via SGR

Kenya Revenue Authority, Kenya Bureau of Standards and other government agencies on site to facilitate smooth clearance process.

KPA provides a dedicated stacking area to CLCN at Mombasa and ICDN for container consolidation for a seamless transfer of boxes to our terminal.

The following services will be offered at the indicated rates valid for a year and will be subject to VAT where applicable.

  • 1: Nomination Via Through Bill of Lading (TBL) : FCL Local Import Containers
  • 2: Nomination via Merchant Haulage (MH) – FCL Local Import Containers
  • 3: Nomination via Merchant Haulage (MH) – FCL Transit Containers

How to Nominate to CLC – Nairobi

There are two ways of nominating your cargo faster to our facility;

  1. Copy of your Through Bill of Lading TBL from port of loading indicating the cargo is destined for CLC-Nairobi via ICDN to make the tracking, documentation and transfer easier.
  2. If the cargo has been shipped without indicating final destination/goods in transit to CLC-Nairobi, then will require you to avail an indemnity letter addressed to KPA as per the attached draft to enable us process and arrange for transfer of cargo.

All nomination instructions to KPA should be copied to us for tracking and quick transfer of cargo from ICDN to CLC-N.

Exports

The following are standard operating procedures;

Client to send via email export documents to CLC-N customer care team. This includes; Shipping Order and Customs Entry.

CLC-N will bill the customer as per the prevailing standard export rates and proforma invoice is generated.

Customer payment is received and Entry Advise (EA) will be issued by CLC-N to allow receipt of export containers at the terminal.

Upon delivery, cargo will be inspected by customs, verified, passed and released.

Once released cargo will be sealed and loaded for delivery to Mombasa port.
