FACTORY HISTORY
- Chinga tea factory was established and commissioned on 23rd December,1963 and officially opened on 7th of March, 1964 by the then Minister for finance the late Honorable James Gichuru.
- The factory started with a capacity of 5 million kilogrammes of green leaf. In 1985 it was expanded to 10 million and to 15 million in 1999. The current capacity is 20 million.
FACTORY LOCATION
The factory is located in Mumbuini Sub-Location, Chinga South Location, Othaya South Sub County and Nyeri County.
It is located 135 kilometers from Nairobi and 12 kilometers from Othaya Town
Chinga is situated just next to the famous Chinga Dam. It is at the slopes of Aberdare ranges.
ALTITUDE
The factory is situated at 2191 meters above the sea level in the slopes of Aberdare Ranges. The position in terms of latitude is 00.35555.6 and Longitude 0365354.5
GROWERS
Chinga has a total of 1607 hectares with over 14,090,204 tea bushes. The most common clones includes 31/8, 6/8, 430/90, 371/4.
Currently the factory serves about 8071 registered tea growers.
The factory has a total of 67 green leaf collection centers comprising of 42 main and 25 sub centers.

- Rainfall: 1200-2000 mm per annum.
- Temperatures are relatively cold during the months of June, July and August.

We have so far procured 375.82 Acres and have already planted about 233.47 acres with trees.
Our target is to acquire 620 acres of firewood land.
