Nduti Tea Factory

Nduti Tea Factory Co. Ltd was a venture by Njunu Tea Factory Farmers to ease the congestion which was been experienced at the Factory due to increase Green leaf production. The approximately 500 million shilling venture was funded be 30% equity from Farmers and 70% was borrowed from Barclays Bank and European Investment Bank.

Factory Location:

The Factory is within Kandara District in Muranga County. Nairobi is 82 kms from the Factory while Thika the nearest major town is 38km from the Factory. The Factory is 7.8 acres and is situated between Karwara River which serves the Central community of the area with unpolluted water.

The climate is quite conducive for tea production with a double maxima rainfall of 1500 mm-1800 mm annual average between March-April and October – December and a relatively cool tropical temperature of 15°C to 24°C annual mean. The coldest months are July – August with mean temperature of 13º C – 19º C and the hottest being September and February with mean temp of 22ºC – 24ºC. The soils in the catchment are deep well drained brown to dark brown Nitrosols and Andsols with acidic humid top soils.

Nduti is in Zone 37 in the Global position system (G.P.S) with UTM coordinates of -0806552,, 36881675. The Factory lies at foot of the Aberdare ranges 2037 meters above sea level with rich well drained soils and a well distributed rainfall.

  • Currently, the factory serves 6334 growers with a potential area of 1056.91 Hectares of land.
