Ndarugu was initially called KURI Tea Factory and was incorporated on 19.12.02 as a satellite of Theta Tea Factory Co. Ltd.
The name Ndarugu was adopted in 10th March, 2016.
Tea processing operations began in 2009.
Factory Location
The factory is situated at Kuri market in Kirangi Sub-Location, Ndarugu Location, Ndarugu Division and Gatundu South Sub-county in Kiambu County.
The Altitude is 1900 metres above sea level, 00 .55’26.0” South, 360 46’34.0 East.
It is about 74 kilometres from Nairobi and 44 kilometres off Thika Road branching off via Kenyatta road.
The factory sits on land measuring 15.766 acres.
The water source is Ruabura River which is about 9.8km from the factory.

Type of Tea Produced
Tea was first grown in the catchment in the year 1958. The major clones planted in the catchment include TRFK 31/8 and 6/8. It produces Black CTC Teas.
Climatic Conditions
The Factory experiences mean minimum temperatures of 150c, and a mean maximum of 200c with an average humidity of 85. It lies at an altitude of about 1900meters above sea level.
The factory receives an average annual rainfall of 2000mm.
